“This Is What A Feminist Looks Like” — And There Is Something Seriously Wrong With That

In Nigeria and Iraq, Muslim armies are selling women as slaves. Iran hanged a woman for fighting off a rapist. ISIS was more direct about it and beheaded a woman who resisted one of its fighters.

But we don’t have to travel to the Middle East to see real horrors. The sex grooming scandal in the UK involved the rape of thousands of girls. The rapists were Muslim men so instead of talking about it, the UK’s feminists bought $75 shirts reading, “This is what a feminist looks like” which were actually being made by Third World women living sixteen to a room. This was what a feminist looked like and it wasn’t a pretty picture.

The same willful unseriousness saw Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a survivor of genital mutilation and an informed critic of Muslim misogyny, booted from Brandeis by self-proclaimed feminists. Meanwhile the major feminist cause at the moment is Gamergate, a controversy over video games which can be traced back to a female game developer who slept with a video game reviewer. Professional feminists have spent more time and energy denouncing video games than the sale and rape of girls in Nigeria and Iraq.

That is what feminism looks like and there is something seriously wrong with that.

(Emphasis mine.)

Feminism as currently constructed is not about “treating women as people” or even “equality” — it is about privileged Western women gaining power over privileged Western men. Via Sultan Knish: The Unbearable Lightness of Feminism.

The “Hollaback” Video: Facts Are Meaningless Without A Theory

The Hollaback video also shows why “data” without theory can be so misleading—and how the same data can fit multiple theories. Since all data collection involves some form of data selection (even the biggest dataset has selection going into what gets included, from what source), and since data selection is always a research method, there is always a need for understanding methods.

The important methodological point is that the video, without further reflection, can support all three wildly incompatible propositions. In other words, if you just look at the video, you can believe any three, and you will likely choose whichever fits your existing conclusions and prejudices.

This is a point that Drucker made decades ago: Events by themselves are not facts. … Opinions come first. “Facts” mean nothing without a lens through which to view them. All the data in the world is meaningless without a world-view to interpret them. You have to recognize that your opinion, your hypothesis, your world-view, comes first, and *then* you can do something with data.

In 5/7 Categories, Men Harassed Online More Than Women

Just in case you’ve forgotten how the media works: a new study by Pew comes out showing that although all genders suffer online harassment, in five of seven categories on average men get harassed more than women.

The media reports the study as Pew: Women Suffering Online Harassment Worse Than Men and this is no doubt the lesson every casual reader takes away from it (“Can you believe there are neckbeards who still don’t acknowledge the SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN truth that women always have it worse than men??!”).

When challenged on it, the article says that by their definition, only “sexual harassment” and “stalking” count as ‘serious” online harassment, since those are the two categories in which women have it worse.

Meanwhile, the five categories in which men have it worse include things like “threats of physical violence”, but all of a sudden this is “not serious” because caring about it doesn’t fit the prevailing narrative.

Remember that this same process produces a lot of the other “facts” that drive political debate.

One Reason Western Women are Unhappy

Hollywood lies to you. You cannot have sex with multiple men before marriage and walk away emotionally and physically unscathed. There will be no handsome millionaire willing to marry you when you’re 33 and ready to settle down. Once you’re married, adultery is no light, breezy thing. You probably won’t live in that huge home with a pool and a maid to do the cleaning. Your “high-powered” career will mostly likely consist of tedious paperwork in a claustrophobic office cubicle as you daily work through messy office politics and cope with a few difficult colleagues, while worrying about all those unfinished tasks at home. All too often, especially if you made poor choices about what to study in college, you will not get your dream career. You might actually end up being the maid or the nanny for another woman, doing the same housework/childcare in a stranger’s home that feminists always told you was sneer-worthy work to do in your own home. Your debt load will scare you. Your loneliness could shatter you. Men will come and go as they use you for their sexual pleasure and you will pretend to feel “empowered” by letting them do so. Those of you who do marry will have to work hard at suppressing some depression-causing discontent in your late 30s when you look at your non-movie-star husband, the average home that’s as nice and as big as it’ll ever get, the kids who are just as special and wonderful as every one of their classmates, the neighbors who have more holidays and nicer vehicles than your family, and the sheer ordinary-ness of your life compared to the lives of the rich and famous.

Some women break. When a single woman breaks, she chiefly damages herself. When a married-with-children woman breaks, she damages many other lives as she runs off in search of the fantasy world of “perfect-happiness-with-a-gorgeous-sensitive-rich-man” that Hollywood fed to her.

As I said, there are many reasons why all too many Western women are unhappy. Hollywood is one of them.

An ‘Ether Of Sexism’ Doesn’t Explain Gender Disparities In Science And Tech

Novice researchers often enter behavioral psychology convinced of the blank slate thesis. They believe that little boys and girls are born tabula rasa. Parents, teachers, and society then proceed to mold children’s interests, talents, and temperaments towards the dominant gender stereotypes.

Tenured faculty members have a word for blank slate proponents: “childless.”

In other words, men and women (on the whole and in the main) are physically, intellectually, and emotionally different. Thus, you don’t need “the prejudice of sexism” to explain disparities. All you need is differing internal motivations, preferences, and interests. Yes, at the tail ends of the distributions you may find overlap, but if the significant majority show similarities to the rest of their sex, then even a small set of sex-based differences can lead to widely divergent outcomes between sexes.

But that gives Social Justice Commissars a lot less to work with, so of course it must be a result only of sexism. (/me rolls eyes)

What The Nice Guy Means By “Nice” — Hint: It’s Not “I’m Entitled To Sex”

I had a patient, let’s call him ‘Henry’, who came to hospital after being picked up for police for beating up his fifth wife.

“And why, exactly, were you beating your wife this time?” I asked.

“She was yelling at me, because I was cheating on her with one of my exes.”

“With your ex-wife? One of the ones you beat up?”

“So you beat up your wife, she left you, you married someone else, and then she came back and had an affair on the side with you?” I asked him.

“Yeah,” said Henry.

* * *

When I was younger – and I mean from teeanger hood all the way until about three years ago – I was a nice guy. In fact, I’m still a nice guy at heart, I just happen to mysteriously have picked up girlfriends. And I said the same thing as every other nice guy, which is “I am a nice guy, how come girls don’t like me?”

There seems to be some confusion about this, so let me explain what it means, to everyone, for all time.

It does not mean “I am nice in some important cosmic sense, therefore I am entitled to sex with whomever I want.”

It means: “I am a nicer guy than Henry.”

I didn’t think I deserved to have the prettiest girl in school prostrate herself at my feet. But I did think I deserved to not be doing worse than Henry.

(Edited for succinctness.)

Bad news, nice guys: what women (especially feminists) *say* they want, is very different from what they *actually* respond to. Don’t listen to their words; instead, observe their actions, then organize your life accordingly.

If You Were Outraged Over Spider-Woman’s Pose, You Should Feel Dumb After Watching This

Most of the outrage over this is from people who are spring-loaded in the “offended” position. You all need to start exercising some judgment. Or maybe figure out that most feminist outrages are not about what you think they are about (hint: it’s not “equality”).

Rape Culture Does Exist

Except it’s not white misogynist Christian Western men attacking college-educated Strong Independent Western women, it’s Pakistani Muslim immigrants in Britain attacking children:

At least 1,400 children were subjected to appalling sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013, a report has found.

Children as young as 11 were raped by multiple perpetrators, abducted, trafficked to other cities in England, beaten and intimidated, it said.

The report, commissioned by Rotherham Borough Council, revealed there had been three previous inquiries.

Council leader Roger Stone said he would step down with immediate effect.

Mr Stone, who has been the leader since 2003, said: "I believe it is only right that as leader I take responsibility for the historic failings described so clearly."

The inquiry team noted fears among council staff of being labelled "racist" if they focused on victims’ descriptions of the majority of abusers as "Asian" men.

(“Asian” is apparently a euphemism for “Pakistani Muslim” in this case.) Via BBC News – Rotherham child abuse scandal: 1,400 children exploited, report finds.

There’s so much wrong here I don’t know where to start, not least of which is that the police and legal systems turned a blind eye to this horrible activity, thereby enabling the perpetrators. At this time, none of the usual rape culture reporters find it interesting enough to report on. One wonders why.

Women Are Bullies, Too — They Just Use Authorities As Weapons

I think middle school was always h*ll on Earth, but I didn’t know how bad it could be until eighteen girls bullied my son by using the school authorities as weapons.

If the rule is “don’t fight” and “if I feel uncomfortable, I’ll go to the authorities” clever bullies are always capable of running to the authorities with stories, real, invented or exaggerated. In the case of my son they were wholly invented, and to boot these girls were perpetrating violence on him out of sight of the authorities. (Which I only know because I accidentally observed it.) BUT the authorities believed it was possible to completely suppress violence, and that the physical side of it was the only violence, and that a big, strong male must be at fault, always.

We’ve seen what the “don’t fight” and “use the authorities as whips instead” has done in our society at all levels. The male is always guilty and always suspect, but women can make up things out of whole cloth and no one questions it, because “they’re not violent.”

This puts power in the hands of women and men of a certain stripe: the weasels, the tale bearers, the plausible liars, the yellow streaks of sh*t, who would never face another man (or woman) in the full light of day, but who will lie and connive their way to the top.

This way, anti-bullying initiatives become bullying. Someone was discussing on FB how the Goodreads “anti-bullying” groups come down like a ton of bricks on any author trying to defend his book, or anyone else trying to protect himself from group evisceration.

Same as it’s ever been. Take away physical weapons, and people will use the authorities as physical weapons. (And psychological ones too, which is worse.)

So let’s stop thinking of the ladies as being above reproach, and above being questioned about their stories. Via Bullies Knights Savages and Komissars | According To Hoyt.

Cut the crap about the gender pay gap

A gender pay gap, albeit one that is rapidly decreasing, still exists; but the good news is that when occupation, contracted hours and most significantly age are taken into account, it all but disappears. In fact, the youngest women today, even those working part-time, are already earning more each hour than men. We need to ask why this is not more widely known and question the motives of those who seem so desperate to cling to a last-ditch attempt to prove that women remain disadvantaged. We should be telling today’s girls that the potential to do whatever job they want and earn as much money as they please is theirs for the taking, rather than burdening them with the mantle of victimhood.
